Can anyone tell me the best pulley ratio for a 2 hp 3450 rpm. Leeson motor with a five eighths inch shaft driving an eight and a quarter inch table saw blade on a half inch shaft? I have a 2.5" on the motor and a 2" on the blade shaft and it is bogging down very easily. I need to know what is better, speed or torque, for a table saw as well. please help!

use standard ratio equation for Pulley#1 & Pulley#2:

(speed1)/(speed2) = (diameter1)/(diameter2)

If you're bogging down, then you're feeding into the saw too fast OR not enough torque to cut at that rotational speed OR rotational speed not fast enough.  It's all interrelated.  My guess is that the blade is designed to operate at a specific rotational speed and you need to select pulleys to drive it at that speed.  It would be slower than the 3450rpm of the motor.  Slowing it down would increase the torque.  More torque = more cut-ness.

One other point added to tygerdawg's is that you need to select a blade designed for the type cutting you are doing, crosscut, ripping, etc.
Blades have become very specialized so selecting the right one is essential to get the maximum performance from a saw.

Just curiosity what type cut and material is the saw bogging down on?
