Data Link Node Network Issues

Data Link Node Network Issues

Data Link Node Network Issues

(OP)
I have run into a problem with using 10 DataLinks (DL3500)on (1) DH+ network.  When 9 DataLinks are on the network no problem, but when we add the 10th DataLink several nodes fall off the network.  The condition that exists is that we have several PLC's and Panelviews and Data Links networked together. Is there some sort of limit as to how many nodes can be placed on (1) network.  We should theoretically be able to place 64 nodes on a DH+ Network. When the machine with the 10th DataLink is removed from the rest of the network the device operates properly.

Any idea ???

RE: Data Link Node Network Issues

Is it the the same location for the 10th node if so you could have a wiring issue. I had a client who had the DH+ line too close to a 480V line and when active all the nodes where affected. Just a thought.

RE: Data Link Node Network Issues

Agree w/ sdb830.  Also, you may want to check to make sure you put a terminating resistor on the last node.  Good luck!

Thanks guys, but all your suggestions were already checked. The trunkline and dropline are ok. I was wondering if several nodes fall off the network because of a bandwidth. So, I asked to my client to use a network analyzer and make sure the capacity of his bandwidth is less than 80%. I think PanelView use too much bandwidth when running with another device.

Any idea will be appreciated.

RE: Data Link Node Network Issues

Too much bandwith is a possibility.  I can beleive several nodes would timeout & cause you not to see them.  Did you happen to notice if they would come back online for a second and then drop off (I've seen this happen when too much bandwidth was being used). Another way to check this is to create a test application in PanelView w/ 2 or 3 tags.

Are your node addresses in the PanelView pointing to existing nodes?  Check to make sure they are not pointing to dead nodes.  Just a thought.

Have you checked for duplicate nodes?
