Changing configurations bringing in lightweight parts

Changing configurations bringing in lightweight parts

Changing configurations bringing in lightweight parts

(OP)
I am quite new at using Solidworks and am experiencing this annoying problem:  When I load a particular sub-assembly, all components used in the current configuration are loaded fully resolved (I have Tools>Options>Performance>Resolve lightweight components- set to 'Always') BUT when I change configurations and a new part is needed, it is loaded lightweight.  This would not be a problem except that when I use my sub-assembly in another assembly, the lightweight part does not show up at all.  Any clue why that would happen?

RE: Changing configurations bringing in lightweight parts

If the part literally  does not show in the sub-assy, the chances are you are referencing a copy of the sub-assy which does not have the part in it. Use the File > Find references feature to check the paths of all the parts.

Thanks, I'll check into it.  The part seems to be contained in the sub-assembly, it just doesn't open properly.

I've isolated the problem to different configurations switching between 2 sub-assemblies, each containing one part or its mirror, and 2 common parts.

RE: Changing configurations bringing in lightweight parts

Could you be reaching the "Large assembly mode" threshold?

There is another load-lightweight switch there.
