Solidworks 2005 Rendering Help ?

(OP)
Can anybody guide me in the right direction here. I want my assembly to look like the solidmodels pictures that are displayed on the www.solidworks website. Can anybody tell how I go about doing this type of rendering or do I need to buy some more different software ?

RE: Solidworks 2005 Rendering Help ?

To elaborate on what Chris said:

Solidworks will do this type of rendering as long as your video card supports real-view graphics.

You can also purchase PhotoWorks which is add-in for Solidworks. It has much more in depth rendering capabilities. On my computer at work I have both of these options to use. I prefer to use the real-view graphics if I am just doing a quick and dirty rendering for just around the office. However if it were to be a rendering for a magazine article I would prefer to use PhotoWorks.

Jon

RE: Solidworks 2005 Rendering Help ?

Which are you looking for?  A static rendering for printing (similar to what you see on the SW web site) or a continual display of textures, materials, etc. while working on your assembly?

PhotoWorks is for making great static images of your assembly, parts, etc.  Check this forum for posts on rendering--we've had a lot lately, and plenty of help related to this.

RealView is what you need if you're looking for continually-displayed materials while working on an assembly (not a static image, but a continual display on your monitor while working).  RealView cannot compete with PhotoWorks for level of detail, etc, that PhotoWorks can do, but they have different purposes.

Search the forum ("rendering", "PhotoWorks", etc) if what you want is a good final static image.
