Which material is better??
Which material is better??
(OP)
The specifications request Cast-Iron ASTM-A126, But the manufacturer uses "Cast-Iron ASMT-A48". I verified the ASTM summary for both specifications and found that the difference is that the A48 is Standard Specification for Gray Iron Castings as for A126 is Standard Specification for Gray Iroin Castings for valves, Flanges, and Pipe Fittings. My question is: Which material is better?? Remember, I should supply the material specified or better

RE: Which material is better??
If you're the engineering approving submittals, it wouldn't be unreasonable to ask for the information from the supplier, to show their proposed item was equal to what was specified.
If you're a contractor or supplier, I'd go ahead and send it in, and just note that as a minor deviation. Now, you don't say what it is that you're submitting on- presumably valves? If so, you might also check the applicable AWWA or other standard for the valve, and see what materials are specified there- they may allow either. And don't be too surprised if the people reviewing the submittal don't know the difference, either.
RE: Which material is better??
You should consider the Class of ASTM A126. Your material might be A126 Class B.
It's hard to say which is better material. It depends on your service condition.
