Cold Air Distribution System

Cold Air Distribution System

Cold Air Distribution System

(OP)
Does anyone have any information on this type of system?  I'm being asked to compare this system to a centralized system and there dosen't seem to be much info on the web.  I know ASHRAE sells a book, but I'd really like to not pay to buy the book.

RE: Cold Air Distribution System

Do you have added fees to do this comparison?

How many SF is this system? Office space?

You would have to use series fan powered boxes.

You could get 48 deg F supply temp if you went blow-thru and using 45 deg CHW. I would use a custom unit.

RE: Cold Air Distribution System

The biggest concern with low temp air distribution is insulating the ductwork properly to prevent condensation.  Even specifing non permeable insulation will not garantee that the installer will fit and seal it right.  In todays low bid competitive market the workmanship associated with the many of the insulation subcontractors is marginal to ok it's acceptable, but with low temp ductwork it has to be near perfect.  Remember sweating ductwork leads to mold and mildue and for that basis alone there are many government agencies that will not allow low temp systems.
