Hi everyone,
please help with reference regarding the step by step designing of single line diagram of a project.

Transformer sizing and selection, MCC s and branch circuits, and so on.

I am electrical engineer but not involved in this field before.

Any reference woulde be appreciated.

Regards

RE: SLD design reference

Are you attempting to design a single line for a new building or existing?  The single line is simply a diagrammical electrical "map" of a given building.  I don't know of any step by step reference for how to design a single line.  I suppose that would depend upon the way your company does business.  For a new building....you could spend a year or more designing and modifying the single line.  Then will probably make changes once construction is complete.  Single lines are much more subjective than objective.

Here's my version of step by step:

1. Gather load infomation (some of this is guesstimating)

2. Design within limits of code to supply power to given   loads.

3. Draw single line accordingly.

4. Wait for load information to change.

5. Redesign within limits of code to supply power to given loads.

6. Modify single line.

7. Wait for load information to change.

8. etc... etc... etc... this will never end until a building is demolished.

Senselessticker,

It is a new water treatment plant.

1. do you add up all loads or continuos loads? any extra? what does the code says? any rule of thumb? how to size transformer?

2. How to size breaker? what factor of ampacity of load for specific type of breaker or disconnector? How to size conductors?

3. how to size MCC? Do we need ground fault relay?

and a lot more questions

Thanks

RE: SLD design reference

With all due respect, this is a very complex task with a diverse set of issues you will have to deal with.

You may want to hire a consulting engineer on this one!
