Crude Tank Inertization

Crude Tank Inertization

Crude Tank Inertization

(OP)
Hello,

Anybody have experience with the inertization of crude cone-roof tanks when the diameter exceeds certain diameter.
I need to design a coneroof tank, and according some legal requirement, when the product storaged in this kind of tank is crude, and the diameter exceeds 50 m, then is mandatory to install an inert gas system (let say nitrogen).
I would like to know if this is a normal requirement or there is a mistake?
If this is reasonable, would be necessary the installation of a foam system?
Thanks.

RE: Crude Tank Inertization

The floating roof should be used in this case. Beside to the safety reason, you should consider about high operating cost.

RE: Crude Tank Inertization

I do agree with PAN. If you go on with blanketing on this size of tank, you will a huge cost of nitrogen consumption.
I never seen such big tanks with blanketing.
You should go ahead with internal or external floating roof.
