Sweep Profile Question

Sweep Profile Question

Sweep Profile Question

(OP)
I am having a problem creating a tubular steel part. The front profile is a 90 degree arc with a 20" radius. The top profile starts horizontal with a 3" radius to an incline of 20 degrees at about the mid point of the arc. Any suggestions are appreciated.

RE: Sweep Profile Question

Create sketch for dia, then a 3Dsketch for profile. Then sweep. You can do shell after the sweep.

RE: Sweep Profile Question

(OP)
My main problem is not being able to create a 3d sketch of this profile. I'm using 2003 version which doesn't allow arcs in 3d sketches. I have tried a few methods but can't create the profile I want.

Thank you

Harold

RE: Sweep Profile Question

You should be able to go back into the 3D sketch in SW03 and radius/fillet the sketch corners to get your arcs.

RE: Sweep Profile Question

I do not remember if this can be done in SW2003.  Did you try a Projected Curve?

RE: Sweep Profile Question

Projected curves have been around since Early SW... like around SW99 or earlier.

There is a thread in this forum on using a Projected curve that I posted in here to a user and that worked for him. I can't find the thread here now though?
