importing images file to use for embossed logo??

importing images file to use for embossed logo??

(OP)
Can anyone give me a good technique to import image information into a model, and use it to produce an embossed logo? What file type(s) work best fr this?

RE: importing images file to use for embossed logo??

The only file types available are ".bmp, .gif, .jpg, .jpeg, .tif, and .wmf" I prefer using the .jpg or .jpeg format.

You can insert any picture file into a sketch plane. Even if you select a planar face of the model you are building. You must add the icon to your sketch toolbar by going to Tools-Customize-(Commands Tab)

I can import the image, but it isn't linked to the sketch plane. Do I need to "trace" the image to create the sketch???

RE: importing images file to use for embossed logo??

You will have to trace it, unless you can get a dxf/dwg file.

I downloaded a program called wintopo. I didn't pay for the real version but the free version is ok for converting vectors. It doesn't do too complex but it starts it so that you might only have to touch it up. You can download that program at http://www.wintopo.com/
