Vacuum chamber inlet port

Vacuum chamber inlet port

Vacuum chamber inlet port

(OP)
We are having a large (2.5m dia X 20m long appx 100m^3)vacuum vessel being manufactured. I have never dealt with a vessel this size before and would like some thoughts on the design of the inlet to let it back up to atmospheric pressure. In particular I am concerned about the possible noise generated and the time taken.

RE: Vacuum chamber inlet port

there is some noise but nothing that cannot be handled by an inlet screen or baffles of some sort. Inless silencing is also available. Most of the "noise" is down stream and in the chamber. Of course the noise is a function of the venting time available.

The greatest concern is picking up contamination when you release the vacuum.

Your venting requirements are a function of the time available and what gases are used to back fill the chamber
