Dynamic balancing large vertical drum.

Dynamic balancing large vertical drum.

(OP)
We often balance 3 ton rollers to G 6.3 and G 1.0
We now are asked to balance a 6 ton drum which has a vertical spindle spinning at 120 rpm.  It is approx  18 feet high  10 feet dia  and hangs in a thrust bearing at the top end from where it is driven. The bottom end is  restrained by a roller bearing  allowing  vertical  movement. I am trying to decide if the normal balance considerations apply to this situation. The spindle is solidly made and the drum itself is 4 mm  sheet steel with radial stiffeners. Any comments will be greatly appreciated - - whether critical or cautionary .
