shotcrete-air entrainment in dry mix and wet mix process

(OP)
Dear all,

I read an article regarding shotcrete application. In wet mix process, air entrainment is important and may require at least 6% air. However with dry mix process, air may not purposely entrained.  What makes the air entrainment be different in the two processes? What are the mechanisms behind it?

Thankx,

Neon
