RE: Standards

Nice try.

The handle gave it away though.

Better luck next year.

RE: Standards

Anyone care to enlighten those of us on the other side of the pond...?  Never heard of a Bog Standard...

RE: Standards

Bog standard means basic or no frills.

Well, for an April Fool it was better than asking if anyone knew where to buy a left handed screwdriver.

RE: Standards

You can buy left-handed screwdrivers in the same shop that sells metric adjustable spanners

Good Luck

Grab a hole stretcher while you are there.

Fill what's empty. Empty what's full. And scratch where it itches.

RE: Standards

But do they have cordless left handed screwdrivers?

My angle grinder's run out of sparks.  Will you got to the shop and get me a box of sparks?

or some sky-hooks and stripey paint.

or a bucket of blue wind.

RE: Standards

In the Navy we used to get green saliors to go try to find a length of waterline.

They also didn't believe that our mail was delivered by the Holy Helo, refernce to a helicopter that would land on the ship (usually) on Sundays that also carried a Priest.

There were more, but my memory is shot.

RE: Standards

In the U.S. Air Force, some people were sent to look for flight line, and jet or prop wash.

RE: Standards

MadMango,

Did you ever send anyone for a can of squelch?  You usually had to fill out a One-D-Ten-T form to get it.

RE: Standards

While you're at it, can you also go up the big raffinate splitter and take an air sample?

RE: Standards

andyenergy, I can do you both a long ton and a short ton!

Life is non-linear...

RE: Standards

well for the Coast Guard we would send guys looking for buckets of steam, the keys to the sea chest, and every once in a great while we would need a DC punch.

I think I did see that cordless left handed screwdriver, of course the only problem is that those stupid batteries last about .03 seconds...

RE: Standards

I forgot about the DC Punch.

For those not in the know, a DC is a specialty rating in the Navy, short for Damage Controlman.  It's someone who specializes in repairs: welding, machinging, etc.  So when you go down into the bowels of the ship and ask for a DC Punch, well...

In the Air Traffic Control world, there used to be a gag where someone would call the tower for clearence, as a Bravo One Romeo Delta.
