Custom blocks in DesignCenter

Custom blocks in DesignCenter

Custom blocks in DesignCenter

(OP)
I created a drawing with a few custom blocks in it to use in DesignCenter.  Unfortunately, I placed a couple blocks in the drawing that I didn’t want there – so I deleted them.  When I saved the file and looked up the drawing in DesignCenter, the deleted blocks showed up.  I returned to the drawing and went to File-->drawing utilities--> purge to get rid of unused blocks in the drawing, but the purged blocks still showed up in DesignCenter!  Why?

RE: Custom blocks in DesignCenter

How do You work with the DC?
If You have purged the blocks and saved the drawing, reopen the DC and open the folder of the dwg. The blocks should be deleted...?

I'm using ACAD 2005

I'm not sure what you mean "how do you work with the DC?"  I open it up in AutoCAD (while working on a drawing) and browse through the file structure to the drawing I want to use blocks from.  Underneath the correct file, DC lists blocks, dimstyles. . .  So I click on Blocks and my purged and deleted blocks still show up in the dwg.  The only way I knew to resolve the issue was to start a WHOLE NEW drawing and make sure to only import blocks I wanted to use.  For some reason, it seems that blocks which you delete and purge from a dwg can still show up in the DC - like it has some internal history.

RE: Custom blocks in DesignCenter

One question:  How did you bring your blocks into the drawing?  If you use the reference approach then the block files are listed in the reference manager; therefore, they are listed in the design center.

Hope this helps,

John
