I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions for useful literature/text books for the design of flanges?  I work in the pressure vessel field (both ASME III/VIII) and am looking to obtain more useful information.  I already have Taylor Forge Bulletin 502 btw.

Thanks for any help any of you can give.

RE: Flange Literature

Reesh, did you get Bulletin 502 recently? If so can you provide a source, mine's about worn out.

Unfortunately no.  I got it a few years ago from a colleague who retired.  He had had it for years before that.  It's not in the best shape either.

Sorry.

RE: Flange Literature

SNTman, I have an electronic copy if you like.  Testdog2000@yahoo.com

RE: Flange Literature

Here's a few:
"A PVRC Monograph of the 1949 Classic" "Development of General Formulas for Bolted Flanges"  by Waters, Rossheim, Westrom & Williams.  It has the derivation of all those flange factors.

Taylor Forge Bulletin #45 "Design of Flanges for Full Face Gaskets."  Has the "Modified Rossheim Method" for full-face gaskets

A.E. Blach, "Bolted Flange Connections for Non-Circular Pressure Vessels" ASME PVP-158, 1989. pp. 97-104.

Cook & Guerreri, "Deflection in Gasketed Joints, Machine Design{I think}, March 14, 1968, pp.149-50.

R. Swick, "How much pressure will that Gasket Take?" Machine Design Nov. 24,1977

WRC #314 "Bolted Flange Connections with Full Face Gaskets," by Blach, Bazergui & Baldur, May 1986.

Also check out the Dutch Stoomwesen, BS5500, etc. flange analysis methods - a little bit different than ASME App. 2

Thanks for the input arto!

Much appreciated.

RE: Flange Literature

Reesh, that's how you get everything for this industry.

Me to Coworker: Where'd you get that?
Coworker: Well, I had it.
Me: Think I can get one?
Coworker: No.

All the good books are out of print.

TD2K, thanks, will take you up on that.
