Is there anyway to open db files that were created by a later version of ANSYS with newer versions?

I'm getting the following error:

You are attempting to read an ANSYS file that was created on a later release (Release 8.1) than the one currently executing (Realse 20040329.  The file xxx.db was not RESUMEd.

RE: opening files

Hai,

As an alternative , the file can be converted in to common database file(*.cdb) and can be taken into the newer version.

RE: opening files

Or just read in the log file for the analysis, file.log which ansys generates. That can be read in any version.
