Sound Recorder

(OP)
Hi All,

Im looking for some ideas on how to do the following project

I want to record a few different voice recordings and play them back. There will be 4 recordings in total. 1 x 5 minutes, 1 x10 minutes, 1x 15 minutes and 1 x 30 minutes.

The recordings will be made once and stored (somehow). By pressing a button the user can select the 5, 10, 15 or 30 minute recording.

I am hoping that there is some form of voice recording module that I can be controlled with a PIC. It needs to be "professional" looking so I cant just hack up a tape recorder.

I have no problem doing a user interface, power supply or sound output. I just cant find a sound recorder module that will record anything over 30 seconds - any ideas anyone.

Thanks in advance.

RE: Sound Recorder

If the user is going to already be using a computer then you could just hook a mic up to the soundcard.  There are many programs out there that will let you record.  Windows even has one built in.  If not, then there are about a million voice recording devices out there for making personal messages.  You  would just need to find one with enough memory to record your long messages.

I checked out the bpe solutions site and this is almost what I am looking for. They have a maximum of 8 minutes recording time so I will see if I can do something clever with the control circuit.

Its a standalone project so there is no PC involved.

Thanks for all the help.

RE: Sound Recorder

A Roland AR-200 digital message player/recorder might do the job. It records on 16 or 32 MB PCM cards.  It also has discrete I/O which simplifies interfacing with a PLC.
