Laser Alignment
(OP)
Does it pay off to have a recently rebuilt motor laser aligned at installation time?

RE: Laser Alignment
The tools are important but the skill of the craftsman doing it is the more critical element in the job.
RE: Laser Alignment
as usual bjc has summed up neatly. always alignment will be needed
But to add my twopenneth worth.
What sort of motor and application and what cost to align. Is it a 5kW 900 rpm sludge pump with rubber coupling and a cost of $1000 to align?
( 6" rule will do that one)
Or a 500Kw 2400 rpm multistage hp transfer pump 10m long. Get the laser.
I'm not trying to be smart or put anyone down but as with the rest of our lives it always seems to be "cost trade off" ( now where can I get a new Merc for $500?)
my mentor's rule was "whats the cost of the task not being correct? "
