Swapping models and keeping the same drawing

Swapping models and keeping the same drawing

Swapping models and keeping the same drawing

(OP)
I am drawing a blank on this one guys...I have a fully dimensioned drawing, and I would like to keep the drawing, and swap out a similar model into the pre existing drawing. I have done this in the pst I am drawing a complete blank this morning.

RE: Swapping models and keeping the same drawing

What I normally do is copy the drawing with a new name. Then when you click open and browse to the copied drawing and select it, there is a button in the open dialog box called "References..." from there you can select a new reference to the other part/assembly.

Hope this makes sense!

Best Regards,
Jon

RE: Swapping models and keeping the same drawing

have you tried swapping the models using SW Explorer?

RE: Swapping models and keeping the same drawing

What I have done...
  1. Start with no files open
  2. Open the drawing.
  3. Open the associated model
  4. Do a Save as on the model, placing it in a temporary folder and giving it the same name as the new model.
  5. Save the drawing
  6. Close all files
  7. Open your new model
  8. Open your drawing.  Answer all dialogs so as to allow drawing to accept currently open model.
  9. Save drawing and model to desired names and locations.

I could be the world's greatest underachiever, if I could just learn to apply myself.
