Is there a suitable replacement (both for corrosion and friction reduction) for Cadmium plating on fasteners?  We are manufacturing an older design calling for Cad plated screws which are largely unavailable now.

RE: Cadmium coating

On the purchasing end most non-military people have switched to yellow zinc.

If you can comeback with more details on end uses there are several coatings used for replacement for specific applications.

Its on bolts on an aerospace engine simulator.  Not a terribly corrosive environment but appearance (these things are $$$) and torque specifications (lubricity) have to be met.  We can adjust the torque knowing the frictional coefficient so as long as it meets the corrosion and appearance standards we may be able to use it.  Oh, the screws are all #1 and #0 size so there are relatively tiny.

RE: Cadmium coating

What is the standard/specification  that you order the fasteners under now?
