Weldments

Weldments

(OP)
I saw a demo of Inventor 10 the other day and they showed some imporvements in weldments.

Has anyone used weldments in Inventor?

We want to create models wit weld preps machined but to show the final assembly in a welded state. My impression of weldments is that they are shown as bitmaps in the assembly. Do they have any mass? How do they show on drawings?

Our parts are rotational parts with full penetration welds.

RE: Weldments

Fawkes...Welds do have a mass and contribute to the weight and CofG of the assembly.

Weld note and annotations can be turned on off in the drawing.

I believe the best way to approach what you want is to have a preped assembly and a welded assembly and then show both in the drawing.

I think that's the best way...if anyone knows a better way I would be interested to see it.
