MONDI Cast iron, what kind of graphite ?

MONDI Cast iron, what kind of graphite ?

MONDI Cast iron, what kind of graphite ?

(OP)
Who know MONDI pipes (cast iron) ? I want to know what is the type of graphite in the structure of a MONDI pipe. Is it spheroidale (ductile), flakes, big flakes, ??? We have pipes from few supplier but we can not know which one is which. The only thing we know is that MONDI pipe is good for us, so we want to know what is the microstructure to find out ours MONDI's pipe with in-situ metallography.

Thanks for your help

RE: MONDI Cast iron, what kind of graphite ?

This is from a web page I found

"MONDI, a special alloy of ductile iron with unique metallurgy was developed to handle 92-99% sulfuric acid at temperatures of up to 300° F (149° C)."

This would indicate that the graphite should be nodular.

RE: MONDI Cast iron, what kind of graphite ?

MONDI pipe is permanently stamped so that it can be identified in the field. It has much better properties than cast iron pipe.

Instead of on site metallography it should be possible to readily sort using ultrasonic attenuation or velocity.  Contact a friendly NDT company for this service.
