Quick BOM questions

Quick BOM questions

Quick BOM questions

(OP)
BOM Questions.

1. When I go insert>Tables: Unlike the normal BOM option the excel based bill of materials is greyed out. How do I turn on this option?

2. How do I edit the "bom-standard.sldbomtbt" file? It seems to be binary and uneditable so far. I want to add material type, and vendor to it (and possibly other custom info).

RE: Quick BOM questions

1. The option for the excel BOM will be greyed out if there is already another BOM on the drawing, or if you dod not have a view selected.

2.  Insert a SWx BOM table on a drawing.  Look at the Column Properties of the existing columns and you will see how they link to custom properties.  Right-click in the table and go to "Insert->" to add a new column.  When it looks like what you want, right-click the table and "save as template"

RE: Quick BOM questions

2. Type custom table templates into SolidWorks help and follow the instructions there for creating a new template.
