use of imtool or imcontrast function

use of imtool or imcontrast function

(OP)
I am using the imcontrast function or imtool to display the contrast stretch tool which improves the contrast of the image. I am using Dicom images (CT images) and after filtering i want to see the filtered image. But as the dynamic range is large and for better image quality i am using the imcontrast function or the imtool in matlab for contrast stretching the image.

But it works with most of the images but for some image it gives a range 0 to 1 even though the actual gray level range is quite large and here histogram is not displayed in the tool whereas as normally it should be displayed along with the tool. So i am not able to contrast stretch the image.

Kindly someone tell me the reason why it isnt working in some images properly. An early reply will be highly appreciated

Thanks

Balaji Ganeshan

RE: use of imtool or imcontrast function

Hi,
You can enter the gray level range as an extra input to imtool.
You can also force the range by manually enter the minimum and maximum values in the contrast adjustment tool.
