importing sw 2004 to2005

(OP)
can anyone tell me why when i upgraded to sw2005 my assembley got mate problems as i don't fancy rebuilding 600+ parts plus don't seem to be able to convert back to sw04 without keeping the mate problems
also new to toolbox has it got its own data base or do i have to create one

RE: importing sw 2004 to2005

You need to use "punctuation" in your posts because I can't tell where your questions begin and end at.

Did you use faces, edges or planes to construct your assembly mates? If you used faces and edges, then you will have to redefine them. The ID's might have changed and SW can't regonize something that changed. That's why I use Planes over faces and edges. FAQ559-871

Once your converted you can't go back. That's why abackup is in order before updating anything.

TB is it's own DB and as you add parts to your assemblies, configurations are made in the parts. if you ever remove that DB you will lose all your configurations. So keep that in mind when you update/reinstall

RE: importing sw 2004 to2005

What else would you use for mates besides faces and edges?

This seems pretty lame that just switching from 2004 to 2005 would hose all of your models......

RE: importing sw 2004 to2005

Don't get me wrong I agree it shouldn't lose the mates, but if face ID's changed for some reason (Like mentioned above) then the mates would be lost. Plane ID's never change. See FAQ above.
