Finally got plotter to work

Finally got plotter to work

Finally got plotter to work

(OP)
We have an HP 650C plotter which is most likely obsolete, but it has the latest drivers installed. I finally got a print to come out by selecting D oversize for the paper instead of standard D. That stopped the cropping. The next problem was the text being printed in solid blocks. That was fixed by changing plot quality from best to standard. I don't know why.

The problem I would like to ask about now is on the line weights. We like our object lines heavier than the dimension lines. I was able to go into options and change the line width of each of these. However, the format is still coming out light. I am using the default SW D-size. I could not find anything in options that would apply.

Thanks for any suggestions.

RE: Finally got plotter to work

I started having the same printing prblems since updating to SW2005. I have not found a fix yet.
Are you using 2005?

Is there not a Line weights section in the HP print dialogue box? Thats where I have set my Deskjet.

RE: Finally got plotter to work

You might want to check line fonts in options, layer line weights in the layer dialog box, & the line weights in the HP dialog box like mentioned above. Those are the only places I'm aware of to designate lineweights.

RE: Finally got plotter to work

We had problems with cropping, too.  I found using architectural size ("B" = 12 x 18, "C" = 18 x 24, "D" = 24 x 36) paper oversized prints enough to stop the cropping.  Look for a button that says "More sizes", and select the architectural sizes.

Are you using the line weights setting in the SW print dialog?  This is where I set the weights.  Try boosting the thickness of your object lines up a tad.  We took each tickness and boosted it up in size to the thickness of the next size up to get a visible difference.

I could be the world's greatest underachiever, if I could just learn to apply myself.
