AutoCAD MAP DBF file

We have a GIS system that has SHP and DBF files associated with various features.  I can import the topology for various features (utilities, buildings, etc) but the files are large.  Is there a way to import only the areas you want by doing a query from the DBF file.  Essentially I would be trying to build a topology from the DBF file.

Thanks

RE: AutoCAD MAP DBF file

To answer your question...sort of.  When we want topo for example, of a small area and not an entire USGS Quad, we use our GIS program to export only the area we want into a shape file and import that with Map instead.  Hope that helps.

Thanks.  But let's say that you want to import something from the DBF file.  Say you have a database with coordinates and a label (just 3 fields).  Could you import a the label field at the coordinates designated by the other two fields
