Copy and Paste Open Body

Copy and Paste Open Body

(OP)
If you copy and paste with link a body in a new part the geometry will update if you change the original one.
However  when trying to copy and paste a open body option with link is dimmed.
Is there any way of copying a open body into new part and keep associativity?
How to copy published geometry (curves, faces, points) from say a master part into a particular part?

RE: Copy and Paste Open Body

Instead of copying the Open Body, try selecting all the elements in the Open Body instead.

It works for me, but I'm using R14 with Geometric Sets.

Suggestion: Only link the elements you really need. Extra links could cause problems later.

Thank you jackk
It works with 11 too.
Another question : can I publish all geometry that I need and than copy it with a link into another part?

RE: Copy and Paste Open Body

Yes.  Publishing your geometry is actually prefferable, anyway.

Personally, I like to work with Published Geometry and Contextual Links.  Then when I need a piece of geometry, I simply select it on the fly and create the link.  I also like to turn on the "Confirm when creating a linke" button so that CATIA warns me when the geometry is external.
