New Structural Analysis software

(OP)
Has anyone ever heard of Robot Millennium Freeware?

This is a freeware from the company ISS.

Key features of ROBOT Freeware are (from the website):

1.  2d frame, truss and grillage analysis of up to 3000
    nodes
2.  3d frame and truss analysis of up to 3000 nodes
3.  Section libraries and section property calculator for
    any arbitrary section shape
4.  Parameterised library structures (trusses, frames etc)
5.  FE plate and shell analysis with auto meshing – up
    50 finite elements
6.  Linear analysis and 1st mode dynamic analysis

I look forward to your comments.

RE: New Structural Analysis software

50 elements is no use at all. You can get free, cut down, versions of well known FE packages without the worry of downloading some untried program from the internet.

RE: New Structural Analysis software

Robot is a pretty "tried" program - it has been on the market for a number of years.  I haven't ever used it - but it isn't some guy in a garage.

RE: New Structural Analysis software

I have used Robot and I think it's a pretty good package.

But this freeware is just a marketing ploy, not very good for real technical work as corus said. Still good to use for those, who want to feel the package before making a buying decision.

Ciao.

RE: New Structural Analysis software

Agreed, I have the full version of Robot Millenium and it is a very powerful structural anaylsis and design package. This is free so you can't argue with the price. :)

Thanks for all your insight.
I will give it a test drive.
