I am working on a project utilizing a small boiler (5 gallon capacity). Under certain conditions it may see 1,000 psi. pressure and temps. as high as 1,400 deg. F. I am trying to locate a one way check valve to go in a 3/8" pipe for the feed water and a suitable float electrical switch to trigger the feed water pump. I haven't had any success finding anything on the internet for a system this small with the pressure/ temp. parameters. Many thanks to anyone who could point me in the right direction.--------Phil

Comeback with more information about your boiler design conditions and configuration?

Not being critical it sounds like you may have a bomb in the making.

I appreciate your concern about potential bomb. This was formost in my mind also. Essentially what I am doing is sponging off the heat energy found in the exhaust system of a internal combustion engine. The boiler is made of 1/8" thick 304 stainless steel. This is formed in a cylindical fashion to provide a water jacket around the exhaust pipe as it exits the engine. The exhaust pipe which is also the inner wall of the boiler is .062 thick stainless steel tubing 1 3/4" o.d. My line of thought being that if a failure were to occur the thinner material would rupture first. If this were to happen then worst case scenario would be the steam escaping into the exaust conduit. Initial testing using water medium and hydraulic pressure is that the inner wall colapses at around 2,800 psi. It didn't burst just buckled and elongated in such a way that it would not return to its original shape. Scince my origial post I have located a suitable check valve. Still striking out on some method of water level sensing.--------Phil
