Dimensions in autocad cant be moved or they change propertys

Dimensions in autocad cant be moved or they change propertys

Dimensions in autocad cant be moved or they change propertys

(OP)
When I export a drawing to autocad, I can'nt touch any dimensions in autocad because its text changes, and the leader line change.

Dowel symbols are not showing up either.

Thanks for any help you may offer.

RE: Dimensions in autocad cant be moved or they change propertys

There was a bug that was in SW04 and was fixed, but seemed to return in early SW05 SP's. I'm not sure if it was ever fixed since then. It was because of the scale that causes the dimensions to change. Try adjusting the scale of the exported file in SW and see if you can track it down further. Then I turn it into your VAR and have them turn it into SW. This is the only way it will get fixed faster. The more people turn in the same issue the faster it will get repaired.

If the symbols are not being seen then you might check your layers. I have seen things get transfered over the Acad, but they come in as black and a persons first thought is the data was not transfered. So check the layers. Also you might try a different version of AutoCAD to export out too.

If you are running SW05 try opening the file in DWG editor and see how it opens there.

RE: Dimensions in autocad cant be moved or they change propertys

I have had this happen and I think this is the reason:

If you fix up all your dimensions in SW the way you like, then go into Autocad and click on the dimension (or right click it to bring up the property table, I forgot which), it will revert to the Autocad settings in the property table.

If you moved any of the leader lines or hid any of them, it will go back to what they were. This is really annoying if any of the dimension lines went across the model features and you grabbed the ends to move them outside of the feature. You have to do it all over again. If you added any tolerances, they will be eliminated as the default Autocad table is no tolerances.

When you move anything it takes autocads dim styles. There needs to get a way to set autocads default styles to match solidworks.

RE: Dimensions in autocad cant be moved or they change propertys

It's better to start dimenions again in AutoCAD, the formats are much better and you can save the settings for one company standard. SolidWorks is not good at 2D design or dimensioning.
