Rotor pole keys material ?

In large synchronous salient pole generators, does anyone know, what is the material (grade/specs) used for the wedge type, tapered pole fixing keys ?

RE: Rotor pole keys material ?

EDISON123:

For steel tapered wedges used to fit dovetail salient poles to the rotor spider, we use a medium carbon steel.

American AISI C1018 - (0.18% C aver, 0.30-0.60 Mn max, .040 P max,.050 S max)

The steel should be good magnetic conductor and allow arc welding to final secure hold or to attach an extension when removal is required. The tapered wedges are driven to tight fit with a pneumatic hammer.
