Impact On Thin Wall Tube

I have three different cylinders (all made from Polypropylene) that increase in wall thickness and diameter. For some reason, the thinnest / smallest I.D. sample repeatedly exhibits higher impact resistance than the next higher in line (but not as high as the thickest / largest). Has anyone ever come across a similar phenomenon? Can this be explained?

How do your cylinders stack up in terms of radius/thickness ratios? Another issue is to be sure you are not affected by proximity to gross structural discontinuities - i.e. the ends of the cylinders or any connections to them. Make sure your impact points are at least 2*sqrt(r*t) away from any discontinuity.
