Anyone Using Catia Reverse Engineering 2 ?

Anyone Using Catia Reverse Engineering 2 ?

Anyone Using Catia Reverse Engineering 2 ?

(OP)
I need a reverse engineering package to bring in multiple point cloud data in reverse engineering of parts.

Need to drop in, say, 5 point clouds of a part (5 different parts, all same part number).  I have seen the demo of Cat RE2 and it seems very capable.  But for $24k Im thinking other products such as Geomagics Rain Drop Studio 7 might work even better at around same cost.

Has anyone used Catia RE2 for bringing in point clouds, and if so can you compare/contrast its ability versus other such reverse engineering plug ins?

Thanks!

Paul

Hi Paul

I use Rapidform 2004 and its very good in Reverse engineering, it also recognizes spheres, cones, cilinders, palnes and free form shapes and extracted the corresponding surface.

For point cloud stuff in V5 I use the native QSR and DSE workbenches.
