Remote Graphics Software
Remote Graphics Software
(OP)
Is anyone out there using HP Remote Graphics software?
Our company is spreading out pretty quickly - we currently run PDMWorks but it doesn't run terribly well over a WAN so we are looking at some PDM packages that can handle multiple sites to replace it. The thought is that rather than having all the data in distributed locations and having people access it locally, we could do the opposite and have all the data in a central location and let people access it remotely, using remote graphics software.
I would love to hear any experiences anyone's had with this type of set up...

RE: Remote Graphics Software
Not the ideal solution since this isn't what PDMWorks is designed to do. Plus you end up with a huge vault in each place, which PDMWorks struggles with.

engAlright is on the right track I think if you're going to stick with PDMWorks.

RE: Remote Graphics Software
Results of initial tests of the HP remote graphics solution - seems extremely chunky during zoom/pan/rotate, even when the host and client were connected to the same 100 MBps switch. While watching both at the same time, you could see the action happen on the host with almost no lag after the command is sent, but then you have to wait 1-2 seconds before that action appears on the client display. Doesn't seem like much, but it can be a REAL P.I.T.A. when you are used to a 0 second lag.
