I'm having some strange things happen with large assembly mode in small assemblies.  The threshold is 1,000 parts and it is to prompt me before switching to light-weight components/large-assembly mode.

I have an assembly of 66 parts that is opening with all parts light-weight, even after resolving, saving, shutting the assembly and reopening it.

Any setting I'm missing here?

Never mind.  Somehow the "Automatically load components lightweight" was checked in Performance.  No way I would want that.

RE: Large assemly mode forced

When you open something in lightweight once, the software automatically changes your settings to "Automatically load components lightweight". So may be you opened something lightweight once.

So from the next time even if you dont check that ...it happens!

RE: Large assemly mode forced

It also happened to me. Suddenly my computer started to open all assemblies lightweight, and I don't remember changing any option. "Automatically load components lightweight" was checked.

Thanks hisrik.  I knew I never told SW to make that change, so I was trying to figure out if it made some sort of assumption based on something else.  I guess it did.

RE: Large assemly mode forced

I recently had a situation like this, but it was caused by a single (1.5MB) part. (see Thread559-116743) The part consisted of a simple rectangular flat plate with a pattern of square holes in it. The part rebuilt fine until I applied a material to it, then it took forever to load/rebuild.

With the material applied the upper level assemblies would load lightweight. With the material removed they would load normally.
