How to connect new DIP to existing RCP?

How to connect new DIP to existing RCP?

How to connect new DIP to existing RCP?

(OP)
Connect new 36" Ductile Iron Pipe to existing 36" Reinforce Concrete Pipe. How can I do? Can I use Steel Couplings Reducing? Thanks.

RE: How to connect new DIP to existing RCP?

Why not use a concrete junction box.

RE: How to connect new DIP to existing RCP?

I doubt they make a Fernco Coupling that big, but they might be able to help.  Cheap, reliable, easy to install.  That is a specific brand, I*'m sure there are other similar products. Check here:

http://www.fernco.com

But semo's idea is way better, if you have budget (and inlet would be less than $1000 if it is less than 8 feet deep).  A junction will give you access.  A junction might be required by local ordinance, so check before you spec a Fernco coupling.

If the junction box is unnecessary, the typical way is to use a reinforced concrete collar.

semo: Thank you. I can't use concrete junction box, because budget.

lha(Steve): You are right. That's why I am thinking about Steel Coupling Reducing: www.smith-blair.com. By the way, why do you give a "Remember"? You know Chinese?

cvg: Thanks a lot. I don't know if the reinforced concrete collar can be used for DIP?

RE: How to connect new DIP to existing RCP?

yes, typically used to connect storm drain pipes of different sizes or types or at a change in alignment or grade.  Standard details may be found on the MAG website at:

I don't know Chinese.  The quote is from a thesis I've recently read:

"The Death of Environmentalism, Global Warming Politics in a
Post-Environmental World"  By Michael Shellenberger and Ted Nordhaus.  Very good reading.

CVG: Thank you very much about the technical resource. I'll use this in other projects, because it is combined sewer pipe this time.

lha(Steve): Thanks for your response. I am insteresting this word because I know Chinese.
