catia v5

catia v5

catia v5

(OP)
I need to install the catia v5 on windows system & it should be in network with catia v4 & solid works.
(we don't have CAD system adminstrator to do it)
1. Does any precautions i have to take?
2. How about networking - do you think it would be a problem? how could I share the data like can I create any common drive?
3. I know Unigraphics has issue with plot/print while installing so does catia v5 also?
How to avoid any problems?

Thank you

RE: catia v5

CATIA V4 will not run on a Windows workstation, so I assume that you have a Unix workstation somewhere on your network.  You will need either NFS for Windows, or SAMBA on your Unix workstation to actively share data back and forth between systems.  You can use FTP if necessary, but it's not real time.

Also, V4 uses some special characters that Windows is not always able to read.  Look in the online manuals, especially the Infrastructure Installation Guide, Infrastructure Users Guide, and V4/V5 Interoperability Guide for more information.  There are some settings you can make on the Windows side to be able to view many of these special characters.  There are also some V4 settings to prevent your users from using others of these special characters.

Good Luck, as what you are trying to do without an Admin is not a trivial task.
