Suction and discharge pipe of gas engine pump

Suction and discharge pipe of gas engine pump

Suction and discharge pipe of gas engine pump

(OP)
I am checking pipe stress analysis on suction and discharge pipe of gas engine pump. Now I check only static stress and consider nozzle load of pump only.

Do you think we should consider dynamic stress for these pipe? Also, what do we need data from pump manufacturer for this calculation?

Many thanks,

Brian M.

RE: Suction and discharge pipe of gas engine pump

I'm not quite sure what you mean by "gas engine pump".  If you mean that the pump uses reciprocating pistons, similar to an automobile engine, to generate the pressure in your process fluid, then, yes, you're going to need to check dynamics becuase there will be mechanical and acoustic waves imparted to your piping by the recip action and you need a avoid resonance.

If you mean that you have a typical centrifugal pump, but the driver for the pump is a gasoline engine, then I don't see an issue with dynamics there.
