Spec's for a 1 3/16" straight spline

Spec's for a 1 3/16" straight spline

Spec's for a 1 3/16" straight spline

(OP)
I am trying to find dimensioning specs and tolerances for a splined ID that I have. The major dia measures about 1.190 the minor is 1.010 the tooth measure at .281 wide. This looks close to a SAE spline, but it doesn't match any charts I can find. Normaly they go from 1.125 to 1.250 with nothing in between. Any help would be apprieciated.

I checked that site. It has values for 1 1/8 and 1 1/4. This spline is closer to 1 3/16. I know this design is very old so the standard has to be old or non existing.

RE: Spec's for a 1 3/16" straight spline

How many teeth?
What about pressure angle?

RE: Spec's for a 1 3/16" straight spline

For example:
An exteranl 30° pressure angle, 22 tooth, 20/40 spline pitch is 1.150 major and 1.019 minor.

There are many other combinations in this range.....
We need more information.

An SAE spline is also known as a parallel spline, it has six teeth. There is no pressure angle.

RE: Spec's for a 1 3/16" straight spline

My fault for missing the straight=parallel note.

SAE splines can have 4,6,10 or 16 tooth. So I'll assume you after 6 tooth specs.

You are correct about the 1.125max to 1.250max gap in standard sizes.

The .281 width matches the max for the 1-1/8 size, and the 1.010 minor is slightly undersized for the 6A permanent fit (1.012-1.013) spec.

Could this be some sort of custom spline?

It's may be custom or a very old standard. This design was originally constructed in the 1940's.

RE: Spec's for a 1 3/16" straight spline

Just a thought. Could this be a metric spline??
Is the machine US made or overseas?

Good luck

I checked metric, and no match. It's an old US made machine.
