Spatter Resistant Materials

Spatter Resistant Materials

Spatter Resistant Materials

Can anyone recommend any GMAW spatter resistant materials? Typlically we use elkonite or brass for spatter guards. We are looking for an alternative material, coating, etc that may be more cost effective and provide sufficient or better results.
Thanks
Jeff

RE: Spatter Resistant Materials

Try spray cans of Boron Nitride, or a solution of powdered BN in water.

RE: Spatter Resistant Materials

A number of welding supply companies offer spray cans of "anti-spatter" materials.

Thanks for the info.
I work for a weld machine integrator. Unfortunately we have situations where you cannot avoid spatter buildup on tooling simply due to the amount of weld volume and proximity to tooling. Anti-Spatter spray is an option but unfortunately many companies we deal with are very sloppy when it comes to upkeep. I realize that any spatter guard material we can use will not solve the problem 100%. I am interested in a cost effective material that we can offer to our customers.

Where can you get this spray BN or powdered BN?

Any other ideas for material that will make a good spatter guard that is cost effective?
Thanks Again

RE: Spatter Resistant Materials

Here is one of several suppliers of BN coatings either as paint or aerosol spray.
I would give them a call.  They have been very helpful to me in the past.

Unclesyd's source is probably cheaper, but you can also get BN spray from McMaster-Carr.
