Ansys chassis analysis help

Ansys chassis analysis help

Ansys chassis analysis help

(OP)
Hello
I have designed a space frame chassis (all box section) using I-Deas 9.  I have exported this as a .igs file and imported it into Ansys 8.0.

I have never analised a 3D object in ansys.  I was wondering if anyone could help me with the settings i.e. what element type and node arrangement should be used for best results And any other tips that may be usful when dealing with a 3D model.

Hope someone can help, thanks

RE: Ansys chassis analysis help

  Nick,
I would save the file as IGES wireframe and import it to ANSYS. Than mesh it with beam elements.
 Hope this helps.

 Thanks
 Adrian
