Created Date
Created Date
(OP)
Hi,
I was setting up my drawing sheets and came across a little problem. The 'Created Date' is a mile long. Is there any way to insert a short date as the created date? Is there a way to mofify the macro that extracts this informations. Actually is there a way to modify any of the SW links?
Thanks!

RE: Created Date
WHich means that if you open the file 10 days form today it will show you the date for that day and not when it was created. You will either to type it in like I mentioned above or make room for the created date.

RE: Created Date
Note: doing this affects your entire system. so word documents, etc. will be affected by this change. Otherwise use Scott's suggestion.
Solidworks uses your systems global setting to enter long or short dates. To modify these so that solidworks always puts in the date as you want it to read you have to go to Start-Control Panel-Date,Time, Language and Regional Options-Regional and Language Options.
Once you are there you will see your current setting for long and short date formats. Click on customize.. and apply the format to the dates in a way that you want to read them.
I had to do this at one company I worked for because they had a date format that read "day/month/year". Setting my sytem like I have discussed helped keep everyone keep the format straight.

Jon

RE: Created Date
But you can not use either "Long date" or "Short date" in your drawing document, cann't you? As SBaugh pointed out, "Long date" or "Short date" in SolidWorks is for current date.
Alex
RE: Created Date
"Created Date" uses the systems LONG DATE format. The revision table uses the systems SHORT DATE format. If you would like to change the appearance of how these two areas are displayed you need to change your system options as discussed. Or if you so desire you could type it in manually.
Solidworks also has property fields called "SW-Short Date" and "SW-Long Date" which also use the systems setting for each accordingly.
If all else fails have someone else do it.
