Trouble splitting a BOM in 2005 ?

Trouble splitting a BOM in 2005 ?

Trouble splitting a BOM in 2005 ?

(OP)
Has anyone else had trouble splitting a BOM in 2005? I can split the BOM fine, but when I try to drag the split portion to a new location it does not work properly.  I can pick up and drag the split portion, but, when I try to drop the split portion it jumps back to the location I was dragging from.  However, if i try to click on the split portion to drag it again I am able to click on it. After some frustration I found that if I click in the area where I origionally drag the split portion, I could move activate the BOM again.  This seems really weird, has anyone else had this issue?
Thanks, James

RE: Trouble splitting a BOM in 2005 ?

Are you supposed to be able to drag & drop the split portion as a seperate entity?
Previous SW versions placed the split either side of the main BOM.

Hmmm, I was working with a drawing which someone had made in 2004 (they're no longer with us).  They had split the BOM and some how moved the split portion to the opposite side of the page.  I had to delete the old BOM and when i put another back in I need to split it the same way, but so far have been unable to.

RE: Trouble splitting a BOM in 2005 ?

The Excel based BOM works the way CBL mentioned, but the new SWx table works the way Jamaz17 is expecting.

What SP are you on?  I've got 1.0ev still loaded and can move the split portion without problem.

Since it is showing in the old location but acting as if it is in the new place, it could also be a graphics issue.  What video card and driver are you running?

RE: Trouble splitting a BOM in 2005 ?

Can you "un-split" the BOM that was made previously? RMB the BOM > select Properties > select Control tab > uncheck the "Split tables into multiple sections" option.
I think you will find that it is actually 2 seperate BOMs.

I am running SW2004 & cannot see any way to move a split BOM portion, other than Left or Right of the main section.

Doh!!! Sorry I forgot about the SW style BOM. I stand corrected ... thanks MElam.

To move the split portion, make sure you "grab" the Blue band at the top of the section.

I'm running a ATI Fire GL 8800 Driver 5.12.2195.3035

I think it could be the graphics, because I can move the split section fine, it just won't graphically stay where I place it.  Solidworks seems to "think" that it's where I placed it, but it doens't show up that way.

Ah, thanks I'll try upgrading the driver.
