DH+ Communication Stoppage

(OP)
I have 4 scales in a precision coating process that weigh parts after being coated.  The scales are using a 3rd party micro-controller and are communicating to a AB PLC 5/80E.  The communcations protocol from the micro-controller is Modbus/RS485 and it is being converted to Data Highway Plus (DH+) to send status and data to and recieve commands from the PLC 5.  On occasion, the communication link is delayed for aproximately 85 seconds and then resumes normal operation.  This randomly occurs for all 4 scales. Does anyone have any suggestions of what is causing this? The DH+ nodes assigned to these scales are 10, 11, 12, and 13, and the Modbus to DH+ conversion is performed by a DATALINK DL3000 Communications Controller.  Thanks is advance for any suggestions.
