PC Startup or Wakeup

(OP)
Is there a way to get a laptop or tablet PC to startup at predetermined times of the day, run a program and then shutdown again?

RE: PC Startup or Wakeup

1) You can use the Scheduling Task Scheduler, but the PC must be on to do that. I use my PC to wake me in the morning with classic hard rock.

2) In the power management of my Pentium II 400Mhz I have the options WOL (wake on lan) and (wake on ring, modem)
Basically you can send a signal by modem or network cable and the machine will start-up. The computer must support sleep mode to do this.

RE: PC Startup or Wakeup

Some newer BIOS's that I have seen have a system power up at a given time option. Like the ASUS P4S800 motherboard.
Look at your BIOS Power menu.

I think you should be able to shut down the system programaticaly.
