Dual monitor use?

Dual monitor use?

Dual monitor use?

(OP)
Can you utilize dual monitors with V5? If so, how do you set it up (on windows) and what pros or cons are there?

RE: Dual monitor use?

The best way that I've seen CATIA used with multiple monitors is to run CATIA on one, and other applications (e-mail, IE, Excel, etc) on the other.  It's especially nice when you have the Help Documentation on one screen and CATIA on the other.

You can make CATIA span both monitors, but you tend to lose things in the center - like when you re-center the window, it will center between the monitors.

RE: Dual monitor use?

Hi,

Once I worked with 2 screens. It was great, I was making freestyle 3D curves for surfaces...

On screen 1 I had top and front view of my curve with planar porcupine analysis.

On screen 2 I had my CATProduct with the curves and the surfaces with analysis...

Working on screen 1 on my multiview 3D curve, looking at the result of my surface in screen 2.

It was not easy to have the functions all around 2 screens !

Do any of you guys know if you can configure V5 to put all of your icons(and the windows they open) on one monitor and your data on the other?

RE: Dual monitor use?

Sure.  Just detach them and drag them over.

Yea, but are they gonna stay put, or am I gonna have to do silly little back flips to make sure they do?

RE: Dual monitor use?

I guess we have to create an ENVIRONMENT for dual monitor, just to get the icon the right way.

How do you do that?

RE: Dual monitor use?

First you work with 1 screen and define the ENV for this use. Then you use 2 screen (with very large resolution), move toolbars and define the ENV with those catsettings.

Pardon my ignorance, but where and how do you set this ENVIRONMENT?

RE: Dual monitor use?

Hi,

Have a look in your online doc...

RE: Dual monitor use?

If you work in a very large company (or even a small one with a Savvy CATIA Administrator), you do NOT want to be creating your own environment files!  Talk to your Admin, and see if they will create one for you, as well as a startup that will point you to it.

Thank you all for all of your help on this subject.

RE: Dual monitor use?

We do work with two screens with catia.... and with everything..

One you usse it once, you cannot go back.

the larger the better.

But keep in mind that for dual screen with good performance you have to get a very nice graphic device..

its very good to have in one screen your model, and on the other one yor drafting sheet.. foer example, or an excel sheet, catia documentation... รง
we have been working on dual screens for mora than 6 years, and if you can its the way
