Property Line Closed Figures

Property Line Closed Figures

Property Line Closed Figures

(OP)
Is there a way to create a closed property line figure.  I am trying to enter individual lines and having trouble getting the figure to close.  My original plat measures accurate, but my cad reproduction does not match.

Thank you

RE: Property Line Closed Figures

Cad is unforgiving.  Exact matches are required.  (0,0,1.0) is not the same as (0,0,0.9999999).  Is this your problem?

Not sure - I printed the figure and compared it to the original drawing.  Cad seems to be showing the wrong bearing, even though when I look in properties it looks correct.  I want bearing N52d56'42"W and am getting N42d56'42"W.  This is happening on two of the four sided figure?

More information.  In order to get a bearing of S52d56'42"W I had to put into Cad the bearing S42d56'42"W.  I checked with a protractor and Cad does not appear to be drawing the correct line.  Two of the sides of my figure were ok, but two had to be adjusted by 20d.  I don't understand it and would appreciate any ideas frm anyone that may have an idea.
Thank you

RE: Property Line Closed Figures

When doing a traverse map chacke, you want relative coordinates.

You have to command @distance,bearing.

If you just say distance,bearing ACAD will think you want absolute coordinates.

That could be the problem, it is a mistake I have made, oh, about 1,000 times so far.

Still having trouble - The bearings and distances are as follows:
@44.5<N42d15'00"W
@110.18<N48d23'10"E
@54<S47d41'00"E
@115.77<S52d56'42"W
When I put the above in Cad the figure does not match my drawing.  I drew the figue in Visio and it comes out ok.  Any help would be appreciated.  Is this a known bug in cad 2000?

RE: Property Line Closed Figures

I cut and pasted your figures in the AutoCAD command line.  It drew a nice tilted rectangle, and closed with an error of 0.008'. This is acceptable error for distances in hundredths of feet.  If it doesn't "look" like the original drawing, maybe:
1. The original drawing doesn't have north oriented up, or..
2. Your drawing isn't set to have north oriented up.  Check Format>>Units>>Direction, select east as the base direction.

Thank you for the help.  I figured the problem out! I was changing the orientation angles for cad and should have left the default settings (ie due east is 0 d and angles are measured counter clockwise from there).
Thank you for the help.
