UPGRADING BOTH WINDOWS XP AND SOLIDWORKS

UPGRADING BOTH WINDOWS XP AND SOLIDWORKS

UPGRADING BOTH WINDOWS XP AND SOLIDWORKS

(OP)
I've put off upgrading both Windows XP service pack 2 and Solidworks SP1.1.
Does it matter which I upgrade first, XP or SW??
I've searched for this info, but could not find anything....

any tips or advice about preparing for this would be appreciated (beyond the typical backing up important files)

Thanks very much for your help and suggestions.

John

RE: UPGRADING BOTH WINDOWS XP AND SOLIDWORKS

I always prefer updating the OS first before updating any software. No reason, I just feel the OS should always be first.

RE: UPGRADING BOTH WINDOWS XP AND SOLIDWORKS

Due to the timing of the SP releases, many people had already upgraded to XP-SP2 before appling SW05-SP1.1

Some have had problems ... some have not.

Like ctopher, I would upgrade XP first ... and do a "Windows Update" to get all the latest MS patches.
